While similar, this design for Mars has slight quirks that make it evident this is different from the final design. Note specifically the curve of his "ears" and the visibility of the beige spot on them even behind his head. His boots, as well, are black. Black boots are only ever seen in some early shots of the first episode. (Perhaps a coloring mistake.)
